Start the first full day of the conference with a sit-down breakfast to hear from Jack Howard, Senior Vice President, Congressional and Public Affairs, at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Jack has extensive experience in politics and government, having worked in the White House for President George H.W. Bush, President George W. Bush and Republican leadership in Congress over the last 25 years. Today he leads a team of 15 lobbyists in Washington, DC and seven regional offices around the country advocating for the Chamber’s federal agenda, which includes increasing investments in transit, roads and bridges and addressing the solvency of the Highway Trust Fund.
 
Through the Chamber-led Americans for Transportation Mobility Coalition, APTA has worked in partnership with business, labor, and highway interests on each of the recent authorization bills, and will continue to work together on a new infrastructure initiative, to achieve our shared goals of improving and expanding our surface transportation system.

Opening General Session: What’s Ahead for Transit – Update from the Federal Transit Administration

Welbes, Executive Director of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) to learn more about public transportation priorities for the U.S. Department of Transportation.  Mr. Welbes is responsible for directing the daily operations of the agency in support of public transportation services in communities across the United States.  He guides the management of the agency's annual budget of over $12 billion and the 550 people who work with FTA's  stakeholders.

COMTO's Celebrating Women Who Move the Nation awards recognize the outstanding contributions of women who are leading and advancing America's transportation industry. Hosted annually in Washington, DC during the month of March, in observance of Women's History Month, this signature COMTO event celebrates women from all modes of transportation and brings together hundreds of attendees representing all sectors of the industry.
 
Prior to March 15, tickets may be purchased via COMTO’s website, www.comto.org/events. On March 15, tickets may be purchased on site at the COMTO registration desk on a first-come, first-served basis. There will be no ticket sales on site.

Federal Transit Administration Workshop - Capital Investment Grant Program

The Federal Transit Administration will present this half day workshop on the Capital Investment Grant (CIG) program to provide information on New Starts, Small Starts, and Core Capacity project eligibility, evaluation, and advancement. Insights and lessons learned on planning and project development will be discussed, along with planning and environmental linkages, CIG program trends, and funding/financing.
 
The workshop is available to all Legislative Conference registrants at no additional charge. To register please fill out and submit the following registration form. Pre-registration is required. On-site registration is on a space-available basis.
