JTA Autonomous Vehicles Tour

2:45 - 4:45 p.m.

Conference attendees are encouraged to take a short ride into the future. LITERALLY! Join us for a ride on JTA’s Autonomous Vehicle (AV) Test Track. Plan to take advantage of this futurist experience on one of the first AV Testing Sites on the East Coast dedicated exclusively to transit.

The Automated Skyway Express (Skyway) has glided about the streets of Downtown Jacksonville carrying customers to work, school, other daily activities and numerous special events since the 1980s. Creating the new state of the art Ultimate Urban Circulator (U2C) presents an exciting opportunity for Jacksonville and supports the vision for a revitalized and vibrant Downtown. JTA, working with its partners, is now uniquely positioned to utilize the investment in the existing elevated Skyway, bring it down to ground level, and expand the area it serves by employing rapidly emerging Autonomous Vehicles. This tour will explain how the U2C program will be one of the first successful AV programs in the U.S. and demonstrate the testing phase of the program with a visit to JTA’s new AV test track.

In 2015, Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) Revenue Team remodeled its money room and designed it to support the Finance Department’s goals. The JTA Revenue Team manages an operation that oversees 200 Odyssey fareboxes, 25 TVMs, 3 vaults, 100 Paratransit Fast-Fare E validators, and a modernized reporting system. The Revenue Team is made up of some of the best employees in the county, and if you decided to join us on this tour, you will have an opportunity to meet them.

The tour is limited to the first 30 persons who sign up at JTA's Host Table. These lucky participants will get to experience JTA's:

~ Transit Hub - Rosa L Parks station to review ID STAR card operations
~ Maintenance shop to discuss TVM, farebox, and vault preventative maintenance
~ Money Room to understand how simple remodeling efforts improved operations
~ Emphasis on reporting and utilization of Smart Card data

Note: Please gather at the host table for shuttle service.
